Mo. lawmaker has a challenger - her husband

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — An eastern Missouri lawmaker is facing an election challenge from her husband, whom she has accused of “physical violence.” Democratic House member Linda Fischer of Bonne Terre is seeking a second term in the Missouri House. Her husband, John Fischer, filed as a Republican for the same seat. They are the only candidates who filed for House District 107.

John Fischer denied that he has ever physically abused his wife. He said he is running because he opposes what Democrats have done with the economy, health care and the federal stimulus.

St. Francois County court records show that Linda Fischer was granted a protection order against John Fischer last Friday. In court documents, she accuses John Fischer of “using physical assaults” to communicate.
