Everybody who would like to go high and get lost with the wonderful smoke of marijuana numbing their senses can happily do so today and actually appreciate the occasion as the “National Weed Day” or the “Marijuana Appreciation Day”.
Marijuana is considered a medicinal drug in several states across the United States, on the other hand it has not been prescribed as a legal drug in several other states. Therefore consuming marijuana especially in large quantities is definitely not allowed. The question - who or when started the practice of celebrating the April 20th Weed Day- has often been asked. A possible answer to this question is given in the story about a group of teenagers in the United States, which runs like this. It is said that during the 1970s, a particular group of school going children met up at their daily hangout near the Louis Pasteur statue after school and smoked pot. These children belonging to the San Rafael High School located at San Rafael in California always arrived at around 4.20 pm in the evening to smoke marijuana. It was in remembrance of this incident taking place at 4.20 and this particular group of people, that the April 20th Weed Day is still celebrated around the world.
The April 20th Weed Day is marked by celebrations in various places of the United States, as well as in the Universities of Colorado, Ottawa and Vancouver. Several towns of New Zealand also celebrate the day in a big way.
