Pakistan constitutes three member investigation team to further probe Bhutto’s murder

PAKISTAN, ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has constituted a 3 members Fact Finding Committee headed by Mr. Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, Cabinet Secretary to determine whether the then Director General, Military Intelligence ordered police official(s) for washing/ cleaning of the crime scene of the murder of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The committee has been provided with sources and will submit its report to the Prime Minister within seven working days. The other members of the committee are Maj. Gen. Sajjad Ghani, Vice Chief of General Staff and Mr. Fayyaz Tooru, Addl Chief Secretary (Home) Peshawar.
The committee would review whether DG of that time had ordered the police officer sof that time to wash the site
According to top level sources, Army Chief Gen Ashraf Pervez Kayani, during meeting with president and PM in the last few days had offered that army has no objections if the civilian govt wants to probe from the than DG military intelligence Gen Nadeem Ijaz
Maj Gen Nadeem Ijaz is currently serving as log area commander Gujranwala. According to sources the committee has been given mandate to carry out a thorough questioning of Maj Gen Nadeem Ijaz and other police officers who might have been involved in hosing down the crime scene to ascertain the facts. The name of than Chief Police Officer Saud Aziz is also being circled.
The political leadership had taken on board the military leadership before setting up the fact finding committee. The committee would start its work with immediate effect and would be given access to all necessary records and documents to ascertain the true facts.
The committee would also hear stance of Maj Gen Nadeem Ijaz and other officers who have alleged of ordering the washing down of crime scene.
