Lois The Corpse Flower Blooms

HOUSTON (GaeaTimes.com)- The Houston residents are all rushing to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the reason is compelling enough. They are all going there to witness the rare blooming of a flower which is huge in size and has earned name for a pungent smell that can shock people. Lois the corpse flower can repel anyone with its odor which resembles rotting flesh. Lois belongs to a rare species which are not commonly seen in gardens and forests as such. Actually the museum staff expected that the flower would bloom two weeks ago but that did not happen. They were a tad apprehensive about its blooming. So only 28 such flowers have been found in the USA and it proves why people are so curious to see its blooming.
Lois the Corpse flower has a height of 5 feet and so far several thousand people have come to the museum to witness the blooming of the flower. They were shocked by its strong smell but that did not prevent them from coming to the museum. Zac Stayton who is the museum horticulturist has achieved celebrity status because of the flower that has found lace in several social networking sites already.
Lois the Corpse flower started blooming two days back and by Friday the process will be over. A couple who are going to tie the knot at the exhibit hall on Saturday are apprehensive that the odor may remain till the date of marriage. The flower belongs to the rare Amorphophallus titanium species. It was brought from Indonesia six years ago.
