Tibetan Mastiff Sold At Whooping $600,000

QINGHAI (GaeaTimes.com)- A 3 feet tall Tibetan Mastiff weighing somewhere between 130 and 150 pounds was sold to a Chinese millionaire couple at a whooping price of $600,000. The Tibetan Mastiff is named as Yangtze River Number Two. This news has surprised the people of China as well as world as it shows Tibetan Mastiffs have become a recent craze in China.
Tibetan Mastiffs are sometimes called as “snow lions” for their giant structure and these special breeds are bought at a very sky-high prize because they are considered a good luck charm by the people of China. Fan Xing, the head of International Center for Veterinary Services has a different opinion regarding this. He feels that the obsession is unhealthy for the dogs as owners spend such huge amount which becomes their status symbol in the end. Tibetan Mastiff’s generally has a life span of up to 14 years but they have a problem with low altitude as they hail from Tibet. These dogs are not used to low altitudes like 12,000 feet or below. Hence, at times some dogs die when they are brought to China for sale.
Tibetan Mastiff is considered as a holy animal in China, the dog is known as a blessing to their health and security. The millionaire couple visited a fair in Qinghai province where they came across Yangtze River Number Two and immediately fell in love with it. The couple then said that they like Tibetan Mastiffs for their loyalty and ferocious structure. The onlookers were surprised to see that a fleet of Mercedes-Benz was brought to take Yangtze River Number Two back home. A reputed media source reported that the couple owns around 40 Tibetan Mastiffs back at their home.
