BEIJING, CHINA (GaeaTimes.com)- The unprecedented and massive Traffic jam in China is making headlines and the motorists who are caught in the 100 km long jam are having an ordeal. The trucks going to the capital of China are moving at a snail’s pace along the Beijing-Tibet Expressway because of the maintenance work that is on full swing. The traffic authorities are going through a bad time and they are trying to resolve the problem. The huge congestion is likely to last for a month as the construction work will not be finished before September 13 as it has been reported. The residents in the region are making profits by selling food at steep rates to the motorists along the way.
The Expressway has become choked Since August 14 by thousands of trucks headed to Beijing. Small accidents and cars that have broken down have made the traffic jam even more critical. The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau officials said that inadequate traffic capacity of the National Expressway 110 triggered by maintenance construction has resulted in this monstrous jam. The heavy trucks have damaged the highway in certain parts of China.
The truck drivers are unwilling to take detours as doing so will result in increased expenses for them. They are however regretting the fact that they have to buy food at four times the cost owing to the traffic jam. There are 400 traffic cops to ensure that no more accidents take place and things do not go out of order. The residents are also slamming the China government for lack of road planning and sluggish urban infrastructure construction pace.
