Man accused of castrating dog without permission

KENSAL, N.D. — A Kensal man faces charges for allegedly castrating a woman’s dog. Television station WDAY reported 55-year-old Kevin Gienger was arrested on suspicion of stolen property and mistreating animals in last weekend’s incident. He’s since been released from jail.

The Stutsman County sheriff’s office said the purebred poodle was found at Gienger’s home, along with scalpels and syringes.

Authorities said Gienger didn’t have the owner’s permission to castrate the dog.

Gienger told The Associated Press that the dog was running wild in the neighborhood and causing a nuisance.

He said he’ll plead not guilty.
