A 98-year-old man in Bihar performed his last rites with the help of dozens of priests and then threw a grand feast to the villagers to let his soul rest in peace after his death.

Witnesses said hundreds of local villagers participated in the last rites of the nonagenarian man identified as Sachchidanand Bhardwaj to enjoy sumptuous feast at his ancestral village Sohsarai in central Bihar’s Nalanda district.

“A man’s soul rests in peace if he gets his last rites performed before his own eyes. Now, my soul will surely rest in peace”, Bhardwaj told reporters at his ancestral village today.

Earlier in 2008, a rich 80-year-old widow had thrown a grand feast for about 100,000 people in the hope that it would please the God and open the doors of heaven for her.
