Police: Man sets home ablaze with pot bong
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Authorities said a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly using a marijuana bong to set his mobile home on fire. Dona Ana County investigator Lindell Wright said in court documents that the man was using alcohol to clean the pot smoking instrument Sunday when he purposely ignited the alcohol and set fire to curtains in his San Yisdro home.
Wright said an off-duty deputy sheriff spotted the man driving away from the burning home and alerted authorities. He was arrested after a police chase through the community.
Lindell said no one else was home when the suspect allegedly set the blaze, which destroyed the home but cause no injuries.
He said the man acknowledged being distraught and suffering from a drug addiction.
