Police: Man uses hatchet on vehicle in rage case

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Maryland State police have arrested a man they say struck a vehicle with a hatchet in what they called a road rage incident. It happened Tuesday about 3:15 on I-495, the Capital Beltway, near Md. Route 97 in Rockville. Troopers received calls from motorists saying someone had gotten out of his car and was hitting another vehicle several times with a hatchet.

The suspect left the scene and was followed by witnesses, who gave the vehicle information to authorities. The suspect was stopped, and troopers said they found a hatchet under the seat of his car.

A man, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property and other offenses.
